A favorite contestant among fans of CBS’s long-running reality hit "Survivor" has announced a bid for political office, the Associated Press reports.

Rupert Boneham, 47, said Saturday that he’s seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for governor of Indiana, the story reports. Boneham said the state’s voters deserve better than the political establishment, the story adds.

Boneham is known for his tie-dyed shirts and for winning $1 million when he was voted fan favorite in "Survivor: All-Stars" in 2004, the piece says.
