Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State football coach who has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse against children, told Bob Costas on "Rock Center" on Monday night that he is "innocent of those charges," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Later on the NBC prime-time show, he added, "I shouldn’t have showered with those kids," the story says. He said that his actions — "I have hugged them and I have touched their leg" — were taken "without intent of sexual contact," according to the story. He insisted that he is not a pedophile, the article says.

After the show aired, viewers and Oprah Winfrey took to Twitter to praise Costas for the interview, with Winfrey writing, "Anybody see Bob Costas interview Jerry Sandusky? Great job Bob," the story says.

  1. You are a disgrace and so is anyone that knew and did nothing about it. Football is not more important than a young boys mentality. He preyed on children already damaged how are they to trust anyone ever! I think child molesters should be put down like rabid dogs!
