CBS’s quirky Tuesday night programming approach — starting with the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” special at 8 p.m. for the kids and wrapping up with “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” at 10 p.m., presumably for the dads — seemed to pay off, with the network easily winning the night in both adults 18-49 and total viewers, TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

CBS wound up with a 3.8 average rating for the night in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo, outpacing Fox (3.1 average), NBC (2.3) and ABC (1.7). CBS also finished well ahead of the pack in total viewers, averaging 12.1 million for the night to 7.5 million for ABC, 7.2 million for Fox and 6.6 million for NBC.

CBS’s “Victoria’s Secret” special was the top show of the night in 18-49 with a 4.6 average, followed by “Rudolph” with a 4.0. Sandwiched between them was a repeat of “NCIS,” which managed a 2.9.

Fox had a good number for “The New Girl,” with a 3.6, and “Glee” was up two-tenths to a 3.2. “Raising Hope” settled for a 2.4.

NBC had something to celebrate with its two-hour “The Biggest Loser” matching its season high with a 2.4 in adults 18-49, while “Parenthood” also matched its season high with a 2.2.

ABC had an off night, with “Last Man Standing” down 11% to a series low with a 2.4 rating in adults 18-49, while “Man Up” was also off 11%, tying its series low with a 1.7. “Body of Proof,” down 10% from its previous original, also tied a series low at 1.8.
