An actor who appears on the CBS drama “NCIS” has entered a plea on a battery charge after being accused of trying to strangle a neighbor during an argument, TMZ.com reports.

David Fisher, who plays the recurring character Trent Kort on the procedural, pleaded not guilty, the story reports. The charge stems from an alleged incident in September.

Cops arrested Fisher and charged him with misdemeanor battery. Fisher claimed that he was not the aggressor, and said he had been acting in self-defense. The police chose to make the arrest nonetheless. The actor is due in court next month.
