New NBC Drama Continues Its Ratings Slide, Hits an All-Time Low

A freshman NBC drama sank to a series low in Sunday’s overnights, as the network found no relief for its long-running ratings struggle, TVbytheNumbers.com reports.

“Harry’s Law” managed a feeble 0.8 rating in the key demo of adults 18-49, down from its 1.0 the previous week. The network’s two-hour “Celebrity Apprentice,” meanwhile, equaled last week’s season low of 1.8.

For the night, CBS had the tentative lead with a 2.3 average rating in 18-49 for prime time, pending more than the standard adjustments due to live coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. In second place was ABC at 2.2, followed by Fox with a 1.7 average and NBC with a 1.4.

Total viewers saw CBS on top with 10.2 million, then ABC with 7.5 million, NBC with 6.4 million and Fox with 3.7 million.

ABC had its own problems, with “Once Upon a Time” slipping to a series-low 2.8 average rating in 18-49, down from a 2.9 a week ago. ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” was even with a week ago at 2.6 and “GCB” improved from a 2.0 to a 2.2.

  1. Sad – I love Harry’s Law

  2. What do expect when you yank a series for several months mid-season and then bring it back in a poor time slot with little or no fanfare? I, too, like this series.

  3. As the last few weeks have shown losses in almost all programming, it either must be the Basketball tournaments or people are doing other things rather than watch TV. Other problems with most losses could be 1. they moved the show, 2. it’s up against a very strong contender, 3. they reworked the show (as they did in Harry’s Law by expanding the character list), 4. there is a long hiatus between episodes (Mad Men, all the great USA shows, and others), and 5. it was never good to begin with (mostly in the sitcom section). I didn’t realize Harry’s Law was still a “Freshman” show with all the reworking of it. I like David Kelley’s legal shows even if he writes very far to the left. The court cases are very provocative and current. Probably way too intelligent for the “Reality TV” crowds…
