Sony Corp. has named a new chief executive officer of its U.S. entertainment business, Bloomberg reports. The move puts film, television and music under the leadership of studio Chairman Michael Lynton.

Lynton, 52, takes on the new role while he continues to lead Sony Pictures Entertainment with co-chairman Amy Pascal, the story reports.

His new job will start June 27, and he will oversee Sony Music Entertainment, Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the story says.

Kazuo Hirai, who will take over as Sony CEO from Howard Stringer on April 1, is consolidating management of the units, which contributed more than 30% of Sony’s 2011 profit, the piece notes.
