Anti-Fox News Bits on ‘The Simpsons’ Draw Angry Response — From a ‘Predictable’ Source

After “The Simpsons” aired an end card taking a poke at Fox News during Sunday’s Fox Network 25th anniversary celebration, one of Fox News’ most outspoken on-air personalities fired back, Mediaite reports.

Bill O’Reilly, who has already attacked Fox’s “Glee” in the past few days over a transgender story line, called the “Simpsons” end card and another “Simpsons” jab at Fox News a “cheap shot” during the “Reality Check” portion of Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor.”

As previously reported, the “Simpsons” telecast — a special rebroadcast of the show’s first episode — included an end card added for the anniversary celebration, which read, "Congratulations FOX on 25 years … We still love you.*" The asterisk led to a line that read, "*This doesn’t include Fox News."

In another clip aired during the April 22 celebration, Simpson family members, gathered at the table, share their “favorite memories of Fox,” with Lisa saying, “I like how the network is a daring liberal antidote to the right-wing news channel that it gave birth to.”

O’Reilly aired the Lisa quip and the end card on Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor,” calling the end card a “dopey card” and concluding, “How predictable.”

The Mediaite piece observes: “The relationship between the Fox Broadcasting Network and Fox News Channel has never been particularly warm.”

  1. Jeez, Bill. Grow a sense of humor, will ya?

I guess sharing the name with the most watched cable news network is something to be ashamed of. Oh well.
