Fox Renews Three Series; Future Not as Bright for Two Others

Fox has announced the renewals of three popular prime-time series, Deadline.com reports. Returning for new seasons will be “Glee,” “New Girl” and “Raising Hope.”

“New Girl,” one of the best-performing freshman sitcoms, will return for a second season. Said Kevin Reilly, Fox entertainment president: “’New Girl’ has become the hottest new appointment series for young adults.”

Reilly added: “’Raising Hope’ has established itself as one of the smartest and most unique offbeat comedies on television, and ‘Glee’ has continued its success as a genre-defying, global cultural phenomenon. All three of these comedies add a fresh and distinctive flavor to our Tuesday nights, and I’m really happy to bring them back to our air next season.”

“Glee” returns for its fourth season and “Raising Hope” comes back for season three.

The report adds: “The pickup comes after ‘Raising Hope’ delivered solid numbers when moved to the anchor 8 p.m. position in the two-hour comedy block Fox tried out while ‘Glee’ is on hiatus, earning a spot on the renewal list alongside shoe-ins ‘Glee’ and ‘New Girl.’”

The Fox dramedy “Bones” has also been renewed, but the prospect is less bright for “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” which the report describes as “practically canceled.” Also looking grim are the chances for “Breaking In,” which barely survived a cancellation scare last season.
