After weeks of rumors that Ryan Seacrest would be replacing Matt Lauer as host of NBC’s “Today” show, Seacrest sat down with Lauer on the show this morning and revealed what he really will be doing.

The “American Idol” host said he’s not after the “Today” job, but he will be a part of NBC’s Summer Olympics coverage, The Washington Post reports.

Seacrest said the Olympics work will be the first of “a lot of fun things” he will do at NBC, the story notes.

Lauer’s contract expires soon, but Seacrest said he sees Lauer remaining at “Today” for some time — and Lauer didn’t argue, The Post reports.

The report adds: “Seacrest’s NBC duties add to a crowded schedule that includes hosting Fox’s ‘American Idol’ and heading a production company that furnishes programming to NBC’s sister network E!, where Seacrest co-hosts ‘E! News.’”
