Star Jones Campaigns Against Reality Shows

One of the former co-hosts of ABC’s "The View," Star Jones, who’s currently guesting on a panel segment for NBC’s "Today" show, has taken to Twitter to launch a campaign against reality TV shows such as "Basketball Wives," "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and "Love and Hip-Hop," reports IndieWire.com.

Star tweeted, “It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other & run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH. …I’m asking all my high profile, platform having conscientious sisters who STAND FOR SOMETHING to just say #ENOUGHisENOUGH & call folk out! Be mad. But think about what I said. WE ARE BETTER than that. You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.”

  1. She is looking for more free publicity–she was on Celebrity Apprentice–a reality show that last time I checked.

  2. She was on Celebrity Apprentice last season I believe, which is indeed a celebrity reality show. If I didn’t like her before now, than I definitely wouldn’t now.

  3. As a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, I don’t think she did anything as degrading as what was described here. These pseudo-documentaries really rely on people’s dysfunctions for entertainment.

  4. She is right.

  5. There are different types of reality shows, I don’t think the fact that she was on a reality tv show is the problem. She’s speaking out against the degrading and often manipulative ways of reality tv. It’s much bigger than publicity, especially since she’s right. This campaign against reality tv is nothing new.
