A spin campaign is playing out on Twitter after one of the stars of  Fox’s "Bones" hinted that the series may be winding down.

David Boreanaz, one of the stars of "Bones," hinted on Twitter that the show will come to an end after its next season, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker. But “Bones” creator Hart Hanson broke his recent Twitter silence to respond to the actor’s comments with a different take on the situation, EW.com’s Inside TV reports.

Referring to the San Diego Comic-Con International festival, Boreanaz tweeted, "SDCC 2012 shld be a blast and quite possibly the last for #Bones? Farewell tour? Look forward to seeing everyone there."

When fans started asking what he meant, he replied, "Let’s put this in sports terms. I’m a free agent after this season. So the Bones fair well tour is in full-swing," according to the story.

Fox declined to comment, according to the piece.

"Bones" creator Hanson later denied plans to end the show after next season, according to EW. “We are in no way planning for it to be the last season. I mean anything can happen in a complicated world, but we’re very, very confident in having at least a season 9, and I can see as far as season 10 before my eyes get misty," Hanson said.

It’s possible that Boreanaz is using a negotiating tactic with his comments, the Times article points out.

"You must always keep your options open and ready for New challenges. The fear is the unknown and that’s exciting," Boreanaz also wrote.
