Just hours after revealing that Laura Lancaster was on the way out as exec VP of drama programming, as reported earlier today, NBC released a statement naming Pearlena Igbokwe as the new EVP, drama development, for NBC Entertainment.

The announcement came from Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, who said in the statement: “Pearlena has forged an impressive track record over her successful career that has earned her the admiration of the creative community. She will bring a unique perspective to development that will help us reach our goal of once again making NBC the home of some of the best and most respected dramas on television.”

Igbokwe will report directly to Salke. Lancaster moves into a consultancy role during the transition period and the drama development season.

Igbokwe comes from Showtime, where she worked closely with NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt. Among the shows she was involved with at Showtime are "Dexter," "Nurse Jackie," "The Big C" and the upcoming "Masters of Sex."
