She’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, won 18 Grammys, ranked at the top of Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest 100 singers of all time — and now she wants to be a judge on "American Idol," reports TMZ.com.

The performer is Aretha Franklin — the Queen of Soul — who reportedly sent an email on Saturday that read, "Yes, I am interested as a judge," according to the site.

Franklin’s interest comes after both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez said they wouldn’t return for the show’s next season. Fox and Fremantle Media, the producer of the program, haven’t commented on her interest, according to the piece.

  1. This will probably not happen as Ms. Franklin is wayyyyyy outside of the demo that Fox is seeking and even though she is a musical Goddess she has probably reached her expiration date as far as “mass appeal” (read: younger viewers) goes. I love her and would love to see her on “Idol.”
