Report: HBO Kills Roger Ailes Project

HBO has killed its untitled project focusing on Fox News boss Roger Ailes, which was slated to be executive produced by Fox News rivals at MSNBC, reports Nikki Finke at Deadline.com.

HBO cited "our company’s CNN affiliation" in revealing the decision to kill the project, the story reports.

We reported yesterday that HBO had what was being described as a “secret deal” for the project based on the Fox News president, which ws to be executive produced by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Both HBO and CNN are owned by Time Warner. Finke writes that she received an email from HBO Films President Len Amato, who explained that because of HBO’s connection with CNN, "the film could never be seen as objective.”

HBO had been trying to keep the project quiet, according to the story, and none of the dealmakers had been told this morning that the film isn’t going forward.
