CBS has extended Leslie Moonves’ contract until June 2017, reports The New York Times’ Media Decoder. Before the extension, his contract was due to expire in 2015.

“I look forward to all Leslie will continue to do as the genius that he is," CBS Executive Chairman Sumner Redstone said in a statement.

As CEO of CBS Corp., Moonves will continue to receive the same base salary and be eligible for bonuses and awards under the new deal. This year he earned a $3.5 million base salary, with an additional $27.5 million bonus and almost $40 million in stock awards and other compensation, the piece adds.
