A veteran meteorologist is leaving The Weather Channel after 27 years with the cable network, TVNewser.com reports. Jeff Morrow has been a fixture at the channel, both as an in-studio presence and with his work in the field.

Among Morrow’s memorable assignments was covering Hurricane Katrina.

Helen Swenson, vice president of live programming for Weather Channel, said in a statement, “Jeff has been an important contributor to the growth and evolution of The Weather Channel and we appreciate the many years of forecasting and live field coverage Jeff has delivered as part of the best weather provider in the country. I hope you join us in thanking Jeff for his many contributions and wish him the best in his future”

In addition to Morrow, TVNewser anticipated that some other meteorologists will also be exiting the network.
