NBC Yanks Canceled Sitcom Earlier Than Planned

NBC may appear to be adding insult to injury for a recently canceled comedy series, but the latest move — pulling it from the lineup a week earlier than scheduled — is Hurricane Sandy’s fault.

Deadline.com reports that the network is taking the canceled freshman comedy "Animal Practice" off the air a week early, with its last episode slated to air tonight, on Halloween. The move is the result of a string of pre-emptions related to the storm, the piece reports.

"The Voice," which was impacted on Monday by Sandy, will air Thursday, pre-empting NBC’s 8-10 p.m. comedy block. "30 Rock’s” episode is tied to the election, so the network didn’t want to wait until after the election to air it. Instead, "30 Rock" will take "Animal Practice’s” slot tonight.
