ABC’s new comedy pilot "Trophy Wife" is negotiating to bring an Oscar-winning actress on board, Deadline.com reports. If the project lands Marcia Gay Harden — an Oscar winner in 2001 for “Pollock” — it will follow another key signing for the show: "West Wing" veteran Bradley Whitford.

Whitford will co-star with Malin Akerman ("Children’s Hospital") in the story of an ex-party girl who winds up thrust into family life when she hooks up with Whitford’s character, a guy with two ex-wives and three kids.

Harden would play Diane, Whitford’s imposing first wife who’s not only a former Olympic champion but also an orthopedic surgeon. She and Whitford are the parents of 15-year-old fraternal twins.

ABC Studios is producing "Trophy Wife" from a script by Emily Halpern and Sara Haskins. Jason Moore is directing the pilot.
