The remake of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has earned a second-season order from Nickelodeon, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.

The show debuted over the weekend, ranking as the week’s top telecast among children 2 to 11 years old. About 2.1 million kids tuned in, with half of them boys, the story says. The show was also the No. 1 children’s program on basic cable, drawing 3.9 million viewers during the week.

Nickelodeon is trying to find a new hit to revive its flagging ratings, as older shows such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" have dominated its schedule.

The network ordered another 26 episodes of the computer-animated show, with the new season to air next year.
