CBS rode strong performances by two Thursday night comedies to a comfortable ratings win in the key 18-49 demo, TVbytheNumbers.com reports, citing Nielsen overnights.
CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” was the top show of the night, delivering a 4.7 average rating in 18-49, up 4% from a week ago. Leading out from “Bang,” “Two and a Half Men” surged 14% to a 4.0.
CBS’s dramas didn’t fare as well. “Person of Interest” drooped 7% to a 2.8, while “Elementary” was down 8% to a 2.3.
NBC had a series-low performance from “The Office,” which fell 9% from its previous original episode to a 2.0 in 18-49, while “Parks and Recreation” equaled its series low with a 1.6, down 16% from its previous original. Elsewhere on NBC, “30 Rock” was even with a week ago with a 1.3 average, “Up All Night” was up 27% to a 1.4 and “Rock Center” was down 10% from its previous original to a 0.9.
ABC’s preliminary numbers are likely to be inflated because of an NFL simulcast in San Francisco. Based on the overnights, ABC’s top show of the night, “Grey’s Anatomy,” had a 3.3 in the 18-49 demo, off 13% from its previous original. “Scandal” delivered a 2.0, matching its previous original, while “Last Resort” came in with a 1.7, up 6% from a week ago.
Fox’s MLB playoffs performed modestly, averaging a 1.4 in 18-49, with substantial adjustments expected due to the nature of live programming.
For prime-time overall, CBS won the night with a 3.1 in viewers 18-49, followed by ABC (2.4 average), Fox (1.4), NBC (1.4) and Univision (1.4). CBS also won total viewers, averaging 13.1 million to 7.7 million for ABC, 5.4 million for Fox, 3.5 million for Univision and 3.5 million for NBC.
The Office is a disgrace to television. Since Steve Carrell left, the show has slipped to where now, the show is not funny at all, and is just weird. And there is not a person on there, who can act. They are all HORRIBLY bad. Clearly, Carrell made them all seem funny, and he carried the show on his shoulders. The ratings collapse now, proves that.
