NBC, trying to figure out a way to recoup its $10 million investment in its ill-fated reboot of "The Munsters," will air the project’s pilot as a Halloween special, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The pilot, which was in development for years, will air Friday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m., slotted before "Grimm." NBC declined to comment, the piece notes.
The update from writer-producer Bryan Fuller and director Bryan Singer reportedly failed to live up to the network’s expectations, and Fuller and Singer are said to have held different views about the project’s style, the story notes.
The new “Munsters” stars Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, a role made famous by Fred Gwynne, and Portia de Rossi as Lily Munster, taking over for Yvonne De Carlo.
