ABC is seeking to dismiss the "pink slime" lawsuit brought against it by Beef Products Inc., which is seeking $1.2 billion in damages for the network’s reporting on finely textured beef, reports TVNewser.com.

ABC and on-air staffers Diane Sawyer, Jim Avila and David Kerley — who were all named as defendants in the original lawsuit — filed a motion to dismiss the claims brought by Beef Products and Freezing Machines Inc., the story says.

The lawsuit accuses the network of “false and misleading and defamatory” statements, citing 11 television reports and 14 online reports between March 7 and April 3, 2012, the report notes.
