Anti-Donald Trump Petition Gaining Momentum

Nov 13, 2012  •  Post A Comment

A petition accusing "Apprentice" star Donald Trump of sexism and a "racially charged" campaign against President Barack Obama, and asking Macy’s department store to stop carrying Trump brand products, has attracted nearly 450,000 signatures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The petition, addressed to Macy’s head Terry J. Lundgren, is sponsored by MoveOn.org, a progressive advocacy group, the story notes.

“Donald Trump does not reflect the ‘magic of Macy’s,’” the petition states. “We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy’s says it has a strong obligation to be ‘socially responsible’ and that ‘actions speak louder than words.’ Indeed. It’s time to act.”

Macy’s sells clothing and fragrances with the Trump brand, and sometimes features Trump in advertising campaigns.

“An ad released last week appears to play off of Trump’s skepticism about Obama’s true birthplace,” the report notes. “In the ad, Trump doubts the true identity of Kris Kringle as portrayed by Edmund Gwenn in the 1947 film ‘Miracle on 34th Street.’”

The ad also features Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and other celebrities. See for yourself:

  1. Let’s go even one better: viewers need to boycott the upcoming season of ‘The Apprentice’ and major pressure needs to be put on any company that would think of sponsoring that show. THIS, my friends, would cause some major harm to The Disgraceful Donald.

  2. I don’t agree with most of what Trump says but this country is getting so divided it is scary. If someone doesn’t agree with you, silence them. What next? Have him drawn and quartered and then cut off his head, like they used to do to people who didn’t agree with the king in ancient times. I am glad this country is a republic of laws and not a democracy.

  3. A boycott of “The Celebrity Apprentice” would only hurt the charities that the celebrities, and Donald Trump, are raising money for on the show.
Donald Trump already has his money, and he would continue to be a media figure.
Trump needs to rethink his antics against President Obaba though. It certainly didn’t help his run as president.

  4. Wow, and people wonder why the country is so politicized.
If we dare not make jokes about Dear Leader, the First Amendment is so much toilet paper.
Oh, I forgot, jokes about Republicans are fine, you just can’t joke about Democrats.

  5. Bill, you are the joke. It has nothing to do with Democrats and Republicans but rather the level of vitriol and disrespect that Mr. Trump is demonstrating towards the President. His nastiness is getting to be old and causing a divide between the 1%’s who are pouting and every day people. “The Donald” is feeling “taxed” and is crying. Now grow the f**k up.
