Twenty years after a drunken, drive-through Las Vegas wedding between actress Janeane Garofalo and television writer Rob Cohen ("The Big Bang Theory"), Garofalo had to get a divorce to free him to marry again, reports the New York Post.
Garafolo and Cohen were working on "The Ben Stiller Show" at the time of the nuptials and got hitched as a goof, apparently not realizing that the marriage was legal.
At the New York Comedy Festival last week, Garofalo said, “Rob and I got married, for real, which we had to have a notary dissolve not 30 minutes before we got here tonight. We were married for 20 years until this evening. … We were married, and apparently now that [Rob] is getting married for real, his lawyer dug up something.”
While working on "The Ben Stiller Show," the pair dated. Recalling their romance, Garofalo quipped, "I’m sure I was terrible." To which Cohen added, "I can confirm that."
Noting that she no longer drinks, Garofalo said: “We got married drunk in Vegas. … We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab. [We thought] you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew?”
