News reporter Gio Benitez is leaving CBS-owned station WFOR-TV in Miami for a new position at ABC News, reports TVNewser. He will be moving to the New York headquarters, where he will be a correspondent reporting across all platforms.
Benitez will be on air starting in early 2013.
Benitez covered a number of top stories at WFOR, including the 2012 presidential election, the Trayvon Martin case and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
ABC News President Ben Sherwood announced the hiring in a memo to staff Friday, calling Benitez "versatile and hard-charging" with a "dynamic storytelling ability."
