VH1 has made the decision to pull the plug on one of its series, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The cable network won’t be bringing back “Mob Wives Chicago,” a spinoff of its New York-based series “Mob Wives,” for a second season.

The Chicago spinoff of the show debuted in June 2012 and ran for 11 episodes. The series “followed the finger-pointing, hair-pulling, name-calling exploits of five local women whose ties to organized crime are tenuous compared to the Staten Island cast,” the story reports.

“It’s just sad; it had so much potential. I guess I have to go back to work,” said Pia Rizza, one of the stars of the show. Rizza is the daughter of notorious Chicago cop Vince Rizza, a bookie and drug dealer who turned on the mob and made a deal with the government, the piece notes.

Rizza blamed the cancellation on the "Mob Wives Chicago" time slot. “It was a terrible time to be aired at Sunday nights in the summer,” said Rizza. She also felt that the Summer Olympics impacted the show’s ratings.
