Does anyone not like Guy Fieri’s work as host of the popular Food Network series "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"?
Unfortunately, Fieri’s latest project doesn’t look like it’s going to be a hit.
Fieri has opened a restaurant, and the latest nail in the coffin of Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar in New York’s Times Square was hammered home by The New York Times. The paper’s review of the place is so harsh that "not even Fieri would park the car for a bite to eat," reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.
As written by Pete Wells, the New York Times review includes a series of antagonistic questions for Fieri, such as, "Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste? The watermelon margarita? Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?"
The review is so rough that it might be "the final nail in the coffin for the place," notes the New York Post. The Post’s own reviewer noted, "I wouldn’t feed the mess to a cat."
Some of Fieri’s colleagues on Food Network came to his defense, with Alton Brown tweeting he plans to visit the restaurant "because it can’t be as bad as all those snooty New Yorkers say," the Post notes.
