Barbara Walters Released From Hospital

Barbara Walters has returned home after being hospitalized for more than a week and after a variety of reports — not all of them accurate — about her health.

TVNewser.com reports that the ABC News fixture, 83, had traveled to Washington, D.C., to cover Barack Obama’s inauguration, despite running a fever, and took a fall during a reception at the British Ambassador’s residence. She told Cindy Adams of the New York Post that she fainted, contrary to reports that she had tripped.

Walters was transferred to a hospital in New York and diagnosed with chicken pox after spending several days in a Washington hospital, the story says. As previously reported, Walters was teased about chicken pox by her co-hosts on “The View.” (Click here to see the video.)

Noting that chicken pox is a serious condition in adults, Adams writes in the Post that Walters, back home in New York now, is OK and is recuperating.
