Fox News Taps Liberal Politician as Contributor

Fox News Channel has hired a nationally known liberal politician as a contributor. The New York Times’ Media Decoder reports that the cable channel has tapped former Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich, making him one of the highest-profile liberal voices on a channel that’s a favorite of conservatives.

Kucinich, who ran for president twice, is known for his antiwar views. He lost his bid for re-election to the House of Representatives last year.

“Through 16 years in Congress and two presidential campaigns, Fox News has always provided me with an opportunity to share my perspective with its enormous viewership,” Kucinich said in a statement.

Other liberal commentators on Fox News include former Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana and community organizer Sally Kohn.

  1. I wonder when MSNBC will hire a well known conservative to provide his/her views on any of their political talk shows???

  2. Umm…Joe Scarborough, Steve Schmidt, Michael Steele the former RNC chair, Pat Buchanon was a long time staple. Plus Kucinich is an extreme Lefty. They hired him more to make their points than to provide a fair look at Progressives.

  3. Joe Scarborough a conservative? Not hardly. As for Michael Steele and Pat Buchannon, they were there for the same reason you claim Dennis Kucinich is there, to contrast their complete disregard for anything conservative. That said, I really don’t care what MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS the NY TIMES or most of the liberal “mainstream” media have to say, I don’t have to agree with them and I am free to change the channel. We need more diverse opinions not less, that is why our country was founded with checks and balances.

  4. Yep! It seems to be confirmed… we no longer have a conservative news outlet. I and my conservative friends and co-workers have been talking for months now on how the election was the last we had seen of FNC being a conservative news/opinion outlet. We noticed it with Megyn first, then more came aboard the liberal bandwagon. Then a few weeks ago, Jamie Colby wore something totally inappropriate for early Sunday Morning, much less to revealing for TV. We need a pure conservative channel, other than CBN News, which broadcasts 24/7 and doesn’t repeat the news all day… and calls it a news alarm 6 hours after it’s expiration.
Point being, FNC is no longer conservative. Guess I’ll stick to Rush, every afternoon. But he doesn’t cover much.

  5. While all you idilogues are hell bent on preserving your points of view at the expense of reality, wouldn’t it be nice for a change to actually get back to the news as it really takes place without all of the liberal or conservative slanted BS? I am so sick of FOX and MSNBC. I wish we could find another Walter Cronkite.

  6. What I find wrong about the whole thing and the comments here is that we have “conservative news” and “liberal news”. Isn’t the point of journalism to be as objective and unbiased as humanly possible (understanding it is very difficult to be 100% unbiased)? How can CNN, MSNBC or Fox even claim to be NEWS at this point when there is no hiding that they are each schilling an ideology?
Maybe the new Al Jazeera America can provide a truer form of journalism… I read their Al Jazeera English news and find it quite objective.
