After charges of racism over a new reality show, Oxygen has canceled the program, Deadline.com reports. The show, "All My Babies’ Mamas," would have featured the rapper Shawty Lo and his 11 children by 10 mothers.

As previously reported, the civil rights group ColorOfChange.org charged that the show perpetuates negative stereotypes about African American families and started an online petition to convince advertisers to pull their support.

The group attracted 37,000 signatures supporting its campaign, and delivered the petition to Oxygen and parent companies NBCUniversal and Comcast on Tuesday, Jan. 15, the story notes.

"I am pleased that Oxygen Media has heard the outrage of over 37,000 consumers and shareholders who said, ‘Enough is enough,’” said author Sabrina Lamb, who started the petition.

Oxygen said it made the decision as part of its development process. "We have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special," Oxygen said. “We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation.”
