CNN Brings Back the Ticker

Feb 19, 2013  •  Post A Comment

CNN has brought back the ticker — the scroll of news that appears in the bottom third of the screen — after abandoning it a few years ago in favor of the Flipper, reports TVNewser.com.

The decision comes from new CNN chief Jeff Zucker, who has been changing the look, programming and personnel of the cable news network, the piece notes. The Flipper had been used by CNN since 2008, and at the time was described by CNN Vice President Bart Feder as making it "easier to read, understand and absorb the information.”

The Ticker returned to the channel Sunday and features white type on a blue background, the piece notes.

The report adds that on Sunday “the noon ET hour of ‘Newsroom International’ also became a co-anchored show, with Michael Holmes joining Suzanne Malveaux at the anchor desk.”

  1. A very good thing. The flipper didn’t allow for enough information. Many the headlines made no sense. And the headlines had been running for days.

  2. Watching Fareed Zakaria and the news ticker at bottom is so annoying and everyone hates it. Especially desrespectfull of such a respected journalist to have such a distraction going on constantly.
