Katie Couric has landed an exclusive interview with the widow of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, marking the first interview she has given since the sex-abuse scandal involving former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky damaged her husband’s legacy, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.
Couric visited Sue Paterno in State College, Pa., where the Paternos lived for 50 years. Joe Paterno died in January 2012, two months after he was fired by Penn State.
Sue Paterno will also appear at the New York studio for "Katie" on Feb. 11, when the episode will air.
Couric’s “big get” comes just two weeks after she sat down with Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o, who was at the center of a widely publicized Internet hoax.
