A new project based on the news parody site The Onion has landed a big-name star, Deadline.com reports. The project, “The Onion Presents: The News,” signed “Arrested Development” alum Jeffrey Tambor.

The project is one of six comedy pilots in the works at Amazon Studios.

“The project, from The Onion’s Will Graham & Dan Mirk (‘The Onion News Network,’ ‘The Onion Sportsdome’), is described as a fast-paced scripted comedy set behind the scenes of The Onion News Network that shows just how far journalists will go to stay at the top of their game,” the story reports. “Tambor will play David Everett, ONN’s oldest and most respected news anchor. He is intellectual, highly ambitious, cutthroat and insecure as he believes his job is being threatened by the younger Cameron, whom David detests.”

John Goodman and Bebe Neuwirth recently signed on with other pilots from Amazon Studios, the piece notes.

Tambor is also set to dust off his “Arrested Development” character, George Bluth Sr., in a Netflix revival of that series.
