A regular CNN contributor is the cable network’s latest departure as new boss Jeff Zucker continues his overhaul of the cable news channel.

Author and TV host Roland Martin announced on Twitter that he will depart April 6, saying the "new boss wants his own peeps," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Martin, who joined CNN in 2007, got in trouble during last year’s Super Bowl, when he tweeted a message that some called homophobic, the story notes. Martin tweeted: "If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!"

CNN suspended him after GLAAD and other groups complained, although he was reinstated a month later, the piece reports.

  1. Roland adds a lot of value to CNN and I for one will miss his departure from the network.
Is Zucker going to “raid” NBC now for talent? If so, what’s left over there …
