The Fox Network announced four series renewals today, with the theme being “girls and gore,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

The network is bringing back the drama series "The Following" along with the comedies "New Girl," "The Mindy Project" and "Raising Hope,” the story reports.

"’The Following,’ which stars Kevin Bacon as a former FBI agent tasked with stopping a serial killer’s cult, is coming back for a second 15-episode season,” the Times reports. “The series, created by Kevin Williamson and Maros Siega, is a ratings hit for the network, and has gotten an even bigger boost from DVR viewers, making it the No. 3 drama overall for the season.”

The three renewed sitcoms are all part of Fox’s Tuesday comedy block.

"’New Girl,’ which will be heading into its third season, is Fox’s highest-rated comedy series and also gets a sizable ratings boost from DVR viewers,” the story reports. “While never a breakout ratings success, ‘Raising Hope’ has been steady enough through three seasons that it will return for a fourth.”

The report adds: “The one new comedy, ‘The Mindy Project,’ saw its ratings rise when another Tuesday [series] — ‘Ben and Kate’ — was yanked from the schedule, making it strong enough to return for a second season.”

Fox continues to negotiate for a fifth season of “Glee,” the report adds.
