An NBC drama project in the works from J.J. Abrams has cast one of the stars of "Twin Peaks.” TVLine.com reports that Kyle MacLachlan is joining the pilot “Believe.”

The project is about a powerful young girl, portrayed by newcomer Johnny Sequoyah, who is protected by a man recently released from prison, the story notes. MacLachlan will play Skouras, a billionaire with a mysterious agenda.

The script was written by Alfonso Cuaron, who directed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."
