1960s Blunder in ‘Mad Men’ Gets Fans, Well, Mad

Fans of "Mad Men" pointed out a history mistake in the show’s Sunday episode, when Joan Harris asks a friend whether she wants her to make a reservation at Le Cirque for them. The show is set in 1969, and Le Cirque didn’t open until 1974, reports the New York Post.

Fans flooded social-media sites to point out the error, the story says. The show has made other history flubs before, including last season’s first episode, which was set in 1966 and featured Dusty Springfield’s "The Look of Love," which wasn’t released until 1967.

  1. When it comes to music, it is not new that they tend to screw up. When “American Dreams” was on, there were tons of errors regarding the music, all of which I pointed out on my web page for the show. Some of the errors were really bad.

  2. Actually, this season is set in 1968 (unless the last episode skipped an entire year… I haven’t watched it yet). This season’s premiere was set around Christmas/New Year’s of 1967/1968, when Christiaan Barnard did the first heart transplant.
