Arsenio Hall’s New Show to Tape on Historic Stage — Venue Is Especially Meaningful in the History of Talk

The new syndicated talker "The Arsenio Hall Show" will be taped at a site that is rich in Hollywood history. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hall’s latest foray into TV talk will be headquartered at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood.

The nationally syndicated show, which launches Sept. 9, will reportedly tape on the stage where the landmark talking motion picture "The Jazz Singer" was filmed in 1927. The movie is recognized as the first feature-length film with synchronized dialogue — the starting point for the “talkies.”

Most recently "Judge Joe Brown" was taped there, the piece notes, with the space becoming available after the show was recently canceled.

Sunset Bronson Studios has also been home to vintage TV shows including "Golden Girls" and "Who’s the Boss?" The Sunset Boulevard location has been known at various times as the Old Warner Brothers Studio, KTLA Studios and Tribune Studios.

The site has been designated as a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Landmark No. 180 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hall’s new late-night show, which is being distributed by CBS Television Distribution, is cleared in about 95% of the country, the report notes, including Tribune stations in the top three markets — New York, L.A. and Chicago.
