CNN is making plans for a new interview series. As the cable news channel continues to retool under CNN Worldwide boss Jeff Zucker, Dominic Patten reports on Deadline.com that the channel has brought in Canadian broadcaster George Stroumboulopoulos from the CBC to front the project.

“In the latest CNN 2.0 move by the Jeff Zucker-run network, the new 10-episode hourlong show is set to air Fridays in prime time starting early in the summer,” Patten writes. “This is the second recent addition to CNN’s summer lineup. As I reported this weekend, the network is bringing back its political debate show ‘Crossfire’ in June.”

The new show, which is still unnamed, will tape in Los Angeles with Stroumboulopoulos hosting in front of a live audience, the piece notes.

Patten adds: “Similar to the Canadian’s long-running talk show ‘George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight’ in Canada, the CNN series will feature in-depth interviews along with musical performances. Sony Pictures TV’s Embassy Row will produce the series.”

Stroumboulopoulos hosted “The One: Making a Music Star” on ABC in 2006, with the low-rated show being canceled after just two weeks, the piece notes.
