Michael Healy, the Disney Channel executive who shepherded hits including "High School Musical," is leaving his role as senior vice president of original movies to pursue other opportunities, reports Deadline.com.

As Deadline notes, the "High School Musical" original movie and its sequel "crossed over into features and into virtually every facet of the Disney company to become a billion-dollar worldwide franchise."

Other movies Healy developed include "Camp Rock" and "Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie."

With his departure, the network’s original movie department will be restructured. Healy first joined Disney Channel in 1997 as vice president of original movies.
