MSNBC Reveals What’s Up With Ed Schultz, Who Fell Off the Radar After a Flurry of Reports About the Cable News Net’s Plans for Him Back in March

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz was supposed to be the point man for a new weekend lineup at the cable news network, with a flurry of announcements about the channel’s moves back in March, as previously reported. But the network has been quiet about Schultz and weekends for a few weeks now.

Now we know that the network’s plans for Schultz remain on track — it has just taken a little longer than expected, the Los Angeles Times’ Showtracker reports.

“The scrappy host — who once called Laura Ingraham ‘a right-wing slut’ (he later apologized) — will return to the MSNBC lineup with a weekend show starting May 11,” the Times reports.

Schultz gave up his prime-time slot earlier this year, with network executives promising he would return by April 1. While that date has come and gone, the plan remains essentially what was reported earlier. Schultz will launch his new show in the 5 p.m. Saturday time slot.

MSNBC will expand the show to two hours this summer. His old weeknight slot was taken over by Chris Hayes, who the Times says "is on the ascendancy."

  1. Really classy guy…he belongs on MSNBC.

  2. I am not a fan of Ed but how often do you hear someone on FOX News issue an apology…or even a correction? Ed’s pompous bloviating fits in far better with the right-wing yakkers which he used to be. I’ll take Rachel Maddow or Chris Hayes any day over chowderheads like O’Reilly and Hannity. Polls have shown the more Fox News you watch, the less you know. A real news organization would be worried about that.

  3. My husband, son, and I miss Ed. Hope he soon returns.

  4. I miss Ed more than I can say! I have not been able to watch MSNBC, thinking Ed was gone for good. Ed does better coverage of the issuses that affect middle America than any one else on TV. I do not trust MSNBC & I will believe he’s back when I see him. I am not an Edhead – I am an Edheart.

  5. We enjoy Ed and also Keith Oberman. Everytime men get on the airways with the truth about everything , the big wigs remove them. What ever happened to the hammer from Minnesota, Jesse Ventura ? Whatever has happened to free speech in this country ? I tell it like it is on my programs on public access…
We are 70 plus years and we have seen a lot in life, technology may be at its peak but the finer freedoms we grew up with are gone. Someone out there is controling the masses. Wake up you young people before it is too late. Freedom is what it is all about, not being put us aa in a box and all thinking alike! Bring Ed back for good, please…We all know what you are about ! Carolyn, prophetess.
