NBC anchor Brian Williams cited an increase in the popularity of a girl’s name — which happens to be the name of the character his daughter plays on HBO’s "Girls," according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed. The name is Marnie.

On the comedy series, Marnie is played by Brian Williams’ daughter Allison Williams.

in a report on the popularity of baby names on Friday’s "Nightly News,” Williams said: “The big activity is among girls. The folks at NameBerry say Marnie is suddenly hot because there is a character named Marnie on an HBO series.”

While Williams didn’t say that the character is played by his daughter, he had a "slight twinkle" in his eye as he reported it, the story says.

  1. I wonder if he has that same twinkle watching some of those sex scenes she is in on the show.
