In a move that would have been a shock if it hadn’t happened, HBO has renewed the hit fantasy series "Game of Thrones" for a fourth season, TheWrap.com reports.

“The series premiered its third season on Sunday, hitting a series high of 4.4 million total viewers, inching out the Season 2 finale last year, which was the series’ previous season high,” the story reports. “The Season 3 premiere was also up 13 percent over last season’s premiere.”

The season premiere attracted a total of 6.7 million viewers across three airings Sunday.

The report notes that people who don’t pay for HBO are also watching “Thrones.” The piece reports: “The Season 3 premiere attracted the largest BitTorrent swarm on record, with more than 320,000 users sharing the episode in one way or another. That number more than doubled the most previous BitTorrent swarm record, which was held by the Season 3 premiere of NBC’s ‘Heroes.’"
