Cable Reality Show Faces Cancellation Over Impasse Between Network and Cast

Cast members on a veteran cable reality show have been given what amounts to an ultimatum: sign their contracts today or the network will cancel the show.

Bravo has drawn a line in the sand in an effort to break the impasse over "The Real Housewives of New York City,” reports the New York Post’s Page Six. With contract negotiations stalled, production of new episodes has already been delayed, the report notes.

The network has told the cast, including LuAnn de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill, that it will cancel the series unless they sign their contracts today, May 10, 2013. Bravo was slated to start taping the sixth season this week, but the women refused to start filming with contract talks still under way.

Several cast members are asking for "reasonable" pay increases to cover costs such as hair and makeup. Cast members currently earn an average of about $65,000 per season, although some long-term cast members earn more.

Ramona Singer, who started with the first season, earns a reported $500,000, but asked for $1 million for the sixth season, the piece adds. While Bravo refused her request, she still agreed to return.

A representative for Bravo declined to comment.

  2. What? These women make a half-mil/yr. for this garbage? Unbelievable!
