A longtime "Saturday Night Live" cast member is leaving the show, with a final appearance slated for this Saturday’s season finale, reports The New York Times. The cast member is Bill Hader.

He first joined the NBC sketch show in 2005 as a featured player and was promoted to regular cast member the following year. Some of his memorable portrayals include his Al Pacino and Julian Assange impersonations.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” he told The Times. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’”

Last year Hader was nominated for an Emmy as a supporting actor in a comedy series, a rare honor for a "Saturday Night Live" cast member, the story notes. He has also appeared in movies such as "Superbad" and "Tropic Thunder."

  1. The way he captured Keith Morrison is perfect and hilarious!

  2. His Vicent Price is priceless!

  3. Bill Hader is easily one of my favorite SNL cast members of all time and he seems to specialize in impressions of people that most of the audience isn’t old enough to know. Hell, Hader isn’t old enough to know any of those actors, either but I suspect he had a parent like my Mom, who raised me Hitchcock & Rod Serling reruns (I picked up on the Hammer horror, Python, etc on my own but Mom was responsible for all of the good psychological suspense genre). He’s also been a contributor to SOUTH PARK (you can see him in the writer’s meetings in the great “7 Days to Air” documentary) I really hope his career just explodes because I get the feeling he’s got a lot more talent than any ofus realize.
