"Community" creator Dan Harmon, who was ousted from the show last year, might return for the series’ final 13-episode season, reports Deadline.com.

As previously reported, Harmon is in talks to return to the NBC comedy series after being fired by studio Sony Pictures Television. Some critics had complained that the fourth season of the show, overseen by new showrunners, had lost its edge without Harmon.

Right now, "Community" isn’t on NBC’s fall schedule, Deadline notes. The show’s former writer-producer Chris McKenna has also been approached about rejoining for the show’s final season. McKenna left "Community" last May to move to Universal TV, where he’s under an overall deal.

Despite being approached about staying, current showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port have opted to move on, the piece notes. They had a one-year deal.
