MTV Orders Dating Series

MTV has given a series order to a new dating show. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the cable network gave a 20-episode order to "Girl, Get Your Mind Right!," which will feature dating expert Tionna Smalls providing relationship advice to young women.

The show will debut May 20 at 6 p.m. and run Monday to Thursday for five weeks, the story says. The half-hour show also has a hidden-camera element.

The order is part of MTV’s return to the dating genre, after it also picked up "The Hookup," a dating series hosted by Andrew Schulz, which is also slated to air as an afternoon strip, the story notes.

"For a long time dating shows were a real big part of our programming slate and we’ve kind of fallen away from that recently," Tony DiBari, senior vice president of series development at MTV, told the publication. "It remains something that’s important to our viewers, and also because dating has changed so much recently that it feels like the right time to get back into that space."

  1. I would love to see they bring back “Singled Out” and maybe even get Chris Hardwick to be the host again.
