A new HBO series got off to a slow start Sunday while the record run ended for a veteran HBO show. The pay-cable network’s new comedy "Family Tree" drew only 794,000 viewers to its Sunday debut, reports Deadline.com.

That was a sharp dropoff from its lead-in, "Veep," which was watched by 1.2 million viewers. Across its two airings, "Family Tree" attracted a total of 975,000 viewers, the piece adds. “Family Tree” stars Chris O’Dowd in a mockumentary-style show in which his character investigates his odd family.

"Game of Thrones," meanwhile, ended its four-week record streak. The show drew 4.8 million viewers for its 9 p.m. broadcast Sunday, still strong but down from the 5.3 million who tuned in for its May 5 episode.
