Oprah Winfrey — Remember Her? — Scores Big ‘Get’

May 2, 2013  •  Post A Comment

Oprah Winfrey has remained out of the headlines lately — at least by Oprah standards — but she made a little news this week by landing an in-depth interview with NBA player Jason Collins, the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports.

Collins became one of this week’s top newsmakers with the announcement that he’s gay, making him the first openly gay active player in any major team sport in the U.S.

In one of his first sitdown interviews, Collins and his twin brother, Jarron, will speak with Winfrey for "Oprah’s Next Chapter," which will air Sunday on OWN. Jarron Collins retired as an NBA player in 2011, while Jason Collins is a free agent after playing with the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards this season.

George Stephanopoulos actually scored the first post-announcement interview with Jason Collins, which aired Monday on ABC News, the story adds.
