One major American city tops the list as the TV market where people watch more live television than in any other market.

Pittsburgh residents watched more live television during the February sweeps period than residents of any other large market monitored by Nielsen with local people meters, reports MediaPost.

Residents in the steel city watched an average of about five-and-a-half hours of live TV per day, followed by St. Louis, with five hours and 23 minutes a day, the story says. Baltimore, Philadelphia and Detroit round out the top five, with residents of those cities watching an average of five hours and 15 minutes or more.

St. Louis was No. 1 in time-shifted viewing, followed by Cleveland and Sacramento. Seattle residents watched the most TV via streaming, with an average of eight minutes a day, followed by San Francisco, Detroit and New York.

The market that watched the least live TV was San Francisco, with an average of 2 hours and 57 minutes.

The research, contained in Nielsen’s first “Local Watch” report, focuses on the 25-54 demo.
